How Well Travel Works: What Happens When You Need to Extend Your Rental Mid-Stay
Need to stay longer in your 1–12 month Well Travel rental in Vietnam, Thailand, or Indonesia? You don’t have to move out, rebook from scratch, or put down another deposit. Message us in the Well Travel chat, confirm your new dates and price, approve the updated contract, and keep the same apartment.
Extending a mid-term rental can feel uncertain. Is the host free? Will you lose your deposit? Do you have to pack up? With Well Travel, the answer is simple. Here’s exactly how it works.
Can you extend a Well Travel rental?
Yes, if the property is available for your extra dates. You can extend by a few days, a few weeks, or another full month. Ask as early as possible—ideally at least a few days before your checkout date.
How the extension process works
- Open the Well Travel chat and tell us your preferred new checkout date.
- We check availability with the host and confirm whether the extension is possible.
- We send you the updated dates and exact price for the extended period.
- You approve the extension in the chat.
- You get an updated contract or addendum with the new checkout date, extension amount, and exact property address.
- You pay through the same payment method you used originally—or, if you prefer, in cash directly to the host.
- You stay put. No moving out, no second check-in, no second deposit.
If any fee applies, it’s shown in the updated contract before you approve. No hidden costs later.
How is the extension price calculated?
The extension price is the amount in your updated contract. If the host keeps the same monthly rate, you pay the same rate for the extra time. If the rate changes for the new dates, you’ll see the exact price before you commit. Nothing changes without your approval.
What happens to your deposit?
Your existing deposit stays in place for the full extended stay. No new deposit, and no increase because you extend.
At final checkout, the host returns the deposit on the day you move out or within 24 hours. If the host doesn’t return it without a valid reason, Well Travel’s deposit guarantee covers it—we refund you from company funds.
Note on cancellations: The deposit isn’t returned if you cancel a confirmed booking or a confirmed extension. Cancellation terms are in your contract. If you’re unsure, ask us in the chat before confirming.
What safeguards protect you during an extension?
- Everything happens in the Well Travel chat. You deal with our team, not the host through private messages. Every decision is documented.
- The contract is updated. Your new dates, price, and exact property address are all in writing.
- Deposit guarantee. If the host doesn’t return your deposit without a valid reason, Well Travel refunds it.
- Secure payments. Your extension payment goes through the same channel as your original booking.
- Clear check-in instructions if you move. In the rare case your extension needs a different property, we send detailed check-in instructions on the day.
What if the host can’t agree to an extension?
Sometimes the property is already booked after your current checkout date. We’ll let you know quickly and help you find another Well Travel property that fits your new dates. If you decide not to extend, you finish your original stay as planned, and the deposit process stays the same.
