Things to Do in Da Nang

For a first visit to Da Nang, start with My Khe Beach, the caves and pagodas of Marble Mountains, the Museum of Cham Sculpture, and an evening beside the Han River. Add a meal of local noodles and a visit to Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula. If the Golden Bridge is a priority, reserve a separate day for Ba Na Hills.

The most useful way to plan is to group nearby sights and leave room for the weather. This guide helps you choose what deserves your time, which stops work together, and when a bigger excursion makes sense.

Suggested visit lengths are planning estimates, not official tour durations. Recheck attraction notices and ticket conditions before travelling.

Make time for Da Nang’s coast

Walk My Khe Beach in the early morning

My Khe is an easy place to begin: walk along the sand, watch the morning exercise routines, then stop for breakfast. Vietnam’s national tourism website highlights early morning and late afternoon as rewarding times to experience the beach.

Keep swimming optional. Decide after checking the flags, lifeguard instructions and conditions on the day. A beach walk can still be enjoyable when the water is unsuitable, provided there are no weather warnings or access restrictions.

Visit Linh Ung Pagoda on Son Tra Peninsula

The Lady Buddha statue and Linh Ung Pagoda make a natural focus for a coastal outing. Specify the Son Tra location when arranging transport so your destination is clear. Vietnam Tourism includes this pagoda and the peninsula among Da Nang’s sightseeing stops.

Give the visit some breathing room: walk the grounds, pause for the coastal views and dress respectfully for a religious site. Arrange the return journey before setting out. If you want to explore farther into the peninsula, ask locally about current road access instead of assuming every viewpoint on a map is reachable.

Choose caves or sculpture for a closer look at local culture

Explore Marble Mountains

Marble Mountains, also called Ngu Hanh Son, combines limestone outcrops, Buddhist pagodas and cave shrines. The attraction is the movement between these spaces: a staircase, a courtyard, a cool cavern, then another view across the surrounding landscape. Vietnam Tourism describes a network of caves, tunnels and sacred structures within the mountains.

Choose this outing if you enjoy exploring on foot and can manage steps. Wear shoes with grip, carry water and keep your hands free for climbing. After rain, assess the footing before continuing into steeper sections. Travellers with limited mobility should confirm an appropriate route with the attraction before buying tickets.

Start early within the confirmed opening hours and avoid scheduling another demanding excursion immediately afterward. You will get more from the visit if you can linger in a cave or courtyard rather than rushing between photo stops.

Spend an unhurried hour at the Museum of Cham Sculpture

The Museum of Cham Sculpture introduces the art of Champa through objects from sites including My Son, Tra Kieu and Dong Duong. Its location beside the western bank of the Han River makes it a useful cultural stop during a central-city outing.

Choose a few galleries and read the labels closely rather than trying to photograph every object. This is also a sensible indoor alternative when rain interrupts outdoor plans. Check the day’s opening hours before travelling across town.

Use a meal to explore the city

Try mi Quang and another regional dish

Look for mi Quang, a regional rice-noodle dish, or bun cha ca, noodles with fish cakes. Both feature in Vietnam Tourism’s recommendations for eating in Da Nang.

Make lunch a deliberate stop between sights. Ask what comes in the bowl and check ingredients if you have dietary restrictions; a dish’s name alone may not explain the broth, toppings or sauces. Follow with a coffee break rather than filling every spare hour with another attraction.

Pick Con Market for food or Han Market for browsing

Con Market is a useful choice when eating is the main purpose of your visit. Han Market suits browsing for dry goods, spices, fabrics and clothing. These different strengths are reflected in the city tourism portal’s market guide.

You do not need to visit both on a short trip. At food stalls, ask the price before ordering. When shopping, compare a few stalls and confirm the quantity and total before paying. Treat either market as a place to explore at your own pace, with no obligation to buy souvenirs.

Save an evening for the Han River

A riverside walk gives you time to enjoy the illuminated bridges without committing to a formal tour. Start around Bach Dang, stop for dinner, and decide how late you want to stay.

The published Dragon Bridge fire-and-water show schedule is 9:00 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The city tourism portal’s notice dated 23 June 2026 also says additional performances may be scheduled for holidays and major events. Check for updates close to your visit.

Arrive before the scheduled start so you can find a permitted viewing position without rushing. Allow extra time for your journey afterward and follow crowd-control instructions. On other evenings, plan around the waterfront itself rather than expecting a performance.

Decide whether Ba Na Hills deserves a full day

The Golden Bridge—the walkway supported by two enormous sculpted hands—is at Sun World Ba Na Hills. It is a different attraction from Dragon Bridge on the Han River. The operator places it within the mountain resort’s gardens.

Ba Na Hills is best suited to travellers who want the cable-car journey, themed surroundings and Golden Bridge in one outing. Vietnam Tourism describes its gardens, French Village and amusement attractions.

Our recommendation is to reserve a full day, including transport, rather than squeeze it between city sights. Check the operator’s current ticket options, operating notices and forecast before purchasing. Choose a package according to the activities you actually want; do not assume meals or every attraction are included.

Add a farther outing only if it matches your interests

Hoi An and Hai Van Pass are established excursions from Da Nang, with car tours among the transport options described by Vietnam Tourism.

Choose Hoi An if a stroll through the old town appeals more than another beach afternoon. Choose Hai Van Pass if the mountain drive and coastal scenery are the point of the trip. Ask your driver to use the scenic pass route and agree on stops in advance. Keep either outing flexible when visibility is poor or weather warnings apply.

For a short visit, select one larger excursion. Adding Hoi An, Hai Van Pass and Ba Na Hills to consecutive days can leave surprisingly little time to experience Da Nang itself.

Put the stops together without overfilling the day

Build each day around one main outing, then add a meal and an easy evening. These combinations are planning suggestions:

  • City culture: Museum of Cham Sculpture, lunch, a market visit and an evening beside the Han River.
  • Coastal scenery: My Khe in the morning, Linh Ung on Son Tra, then a relaxed dinner.
  • Caves and temples: Marble Mountains, followed by lunch and a restful afternoon.
  • Mountain resort: Ba Na Hills as the main commitment, with a flexible evening afterward.

Taxis and ride-hailing services are available in the city, according to Vietnam Tourism. For farther outings, agree on the return arrangements and any waiting time before departure.

If you have only one day, choose the beach, either Marble Mountains or the museum, and the riverfront. With additional days, add Son Tra and the excursion that interests you most. Leave space for a second bowl of noodles, a longer coffee stop or another morning beside the sea.
