Mui Ne Weather Guide: Best Months for a 1–12 Month Rental in Vietnam

Mui Ne Weather at a Glance

Mũi Né (usually written Mui Ne) is a coastal town in southern Vietnam, about 200 km east of Ho Chi Minh City. It is known for long beaches, sand dunes, and reliable seasonal winds.

Administratively, Mui Ne is now part of the expanded Lâm Đồng Province. In 2025, Vietnam merged Bình Thuận, Đắk Nông, and Lâm Đồng into the new Lâm Đồng Province. This change does not affect Mui Ne’s climate or its position on the southeast coast.

Mui Ne has a tropical climate with warm weather year-round. The main seasonal shift is rainfall and wind, not temperature. Long-term climate data puts the annual average temperature around 26.5°C, with about 954 mm of rain per year. February is typically the driest month, October the wettest.

Two Main Weather Seasons in Mui Ne

Dry Season: November to April

From November, rainfall drops and the northeast monsoon brings stronger, more consistent winds. This is the main kitesurfing season.

Current kitesurfing guidance for 2026 identifies November to April as the main wind season, with the most reliable conditions from December to February. March and April are still good, just less consistent.

Temperatures stay warm: average daytime highs around 29–31°C, nighttime lows in the low-to-mid 20s. February is very dry, with a long-term average of only about 3 mm of rain. January and March are also relatively dry.

For long-term renters, this period offers the most predictable mix of sunshine, warm temperatures, and outdoor-friendly weather.

Wet Season: May to October

Rain increases from May and stays higher through October, though Mui Ne remains much drier than many other parts of Vietnam.

From May to August, monthly rainfall averages around 99–112 mm. It rises to 142 mm in September and peaks at about 160 mm in October.

Temperatures stay high, with daytime highs around 30–31°C. Humidity is higher than in the dry season. Wind is less predictable, but some rideable days still happen.

If you are not here specifically for kitesurfing, the wet season is still comfortable, especially in a well-equipped apartment.

What Mui Ne Weather Means for a Long-Term Rental

Best for Sunshine and Wind: November to March

If you want sunny weather, outdoor activities, and kitesurfing, November to March is the strongest window.

The main wind season runs November to April, with December to February generally the most reliable. Local 2026 guidance describes these months as the peak period, with strong, consistent afternoon winds.

For a long-term rental, pay attention to ventilation, window quality, and noise levels in this season. Strong coastal winds are noticeable in apartments with poorly sealed windows or exposed balconies.

Best for a Quieter Stay: May to September

May to September is wetter and less windy, but Mui Ne remains warm and livable.

This works well if you are not visiting mainly for kitesurfing and prefer a slower coastal lifestyle. Rainfall is higher, but daytime highs stay around 30–31°C.

When renting in these months, look for:

  • Reliable air conditioning
  • Good ventilation
  • A covered balcony or outdoor area
  • Effective drainage around the building
  • Well-sealed windows
  • Stable internet access

A Good Compromise: April and November

April and November are transition months. April is hot, with an average maximum around 30.9°C, while rainfall is still moderate. By November, rainfall is declining and the northeast wind is returning.

These months work well if you want a balance between beach weather and less intense seasonal conditions.

Mui Ne vs. Da Nang and Nha Trang

Mui Ne has a different weather pattern from Vietnam’s other popular coastal destinations.

Da Nang’s rainy season is concentrated later in the year, with longer rains usually from November to February. Nha Trang has a shorter rainy season, mainly from September to December.

Mui Ne, in contrast, starts its drier, windier period around November. That makes it especially appealing for a winter stay on the Vietnamese coast.

Weather is not the only factor. Da Nang and Nha Trang are larger cities with more infrastructure. Mui Ne is a smaller coastal town, well known for its beach and kitesurfing scene.

Compare weather, lifestyle, infrastructure, and rental options for your dates before choosing.

What to Check Before Renting in Mui Ne

Weather is only part of a comfortable long-term rental. In a coastal climate, a few property details matter more.

Air Conditioning

Mui Ne is warm all year, so make sure the bedroom has a working air conditioner. If possible, ask when it was last serviced.

Windows and Balcony

In windy season, poorly sealed windows can be noisy. If you are sensitive to sound, check whether the apartment faces the sea or the prevailing wind.

Rain Protection

For stays from May to October, check the balcony, windows, and drainage. A covered balcony makes the apartment more usable during short rain spells.

Motorbike Parking

A motorbike is useful for getting around Mui Ne and nearby areas. If you plan to rent one, check for secure or covered parking.

Internet

If you work remotely, ask about the actual internet connection, not just whether Wi-Fi is available. A mobile data plan as backup is also a good idea.
